Balance ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Balance mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app.
Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication credentials through our identity provider, Auth0.
Financial Data You Provide: You may manually enter earnings, shifts, tips (cash and card), gigs/jobs, pay schedules, and expense forecasts. This data is stored to provide income tracking, insights, and cash flow predictions.
Bank Account Data (Optional): If you choose to connect a bank account, we use Plaid to securely access your account balances, transactions, and recurring transaction data. We do not store your bank login credentials. Plaid's use of your data is governed by Plaid's Privacy Policy.
Conversational Data: When you use Balance AI, your messages and the AI's responses are stored to maintain conversation context. Balance AI is powered by Amazon Bedrock (Claude by Anthropic). Your conversation data is processed by Amazon Web Services but is not used to train AI models.
Usage Data: We collect anonymous usage analytics through PostHog to understand how the app is used and improve the experience. This includes screens visited, features used, and app performance data.
Error Data: We use Honeybadger to collect crash reports and error data to diagnose and fix technical issues.
Your data is stored in Amazon Web Services (AWS) DynamoDB, hosted in the United States. We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data transmission.
We use the following third-party services to operate Balance:
Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can request a full export of your data at any time through the app (Settings > Export Data). You can delete your account and all associated data at any time through the app (Settings > Delete Account). Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
Balance is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email.
